subject: Motoring News: Hot Property Slows Down Motorists [print this page] Weird and wacky road signs have been a talking point amongst motorists for years now, with some providing entertainment and others providing total confusion. The latest sign which is detracting motorists attention from the road is a For Sale sign, which appears at the side of a road in Aldeburgh, Suffolk and confuses drivers into thinking due to its yellow colouring that it is in fact a speed camera.
We all panic when we see those vibrant yellow boxes by the side of the road, but these For Sale signs are misleading motorists and causing them to break hard, before they drive off in embarrassment after realising its just a sign for an estate agent. As well as the obvious advantage of slowing motorists down, the village residents will also be able to admire the sporty and classic cars creeping through the village after being fooled by the cunning sign.
When deciding on a brand image sometimes a little advertising trickery comes in handy. According to Evening Star website, the estate agent in question decided to re-brand their image, hoping it would make them stand out from the crowd but for a company who prides themselves on having wealth and experience and knowledge in marketing, they have been getting noticed for all the wrong reasons.
They say any news is good news, so perhaps this is the future of marketing? The Daily Mail website has reported that, from a distance the signs bear a remarkable resemblance to the yellow boxes that contain speed cameras, and it seems their presence is having a dramatic effect on speeding. I dont know about you but if my signs were prompting motorists to slow down I would want some sort of commission!
Some people however take things too far, with a story on the Daily Mail website revealing that a disgruntled resident has erected a fake speed camera made out of a Kelloggs cornflake box to force drivers to slow down. As the well known slogan goes, If you see Kelloggs on the box then you know its Kelloggs in the box, but this cleverly disguised cereal box contains nothing but an empty threat.
