subject: Pillows That Can Make The Difference For A Good Nights Sleep [print this page]

Many people have their preferences when it comes to beds, some may prefer a soft beds whereas some other people could be perfectly happy with a more solid and hard bed to lie on. Some people prefer a warm bed whereas others want a cooler bed to lie in, so this means it is even more important that there are plenty of options available when it comes to purchasing bedding whether it is mattresses, sheets or pillows.

Pillows in particular come in a wide range of different types and fillings that can help you find the right pillow for your particular sleeping habits. People tend to sleep on their front, back or side and there are different pillows recommended for each of these sleep positions as each requires a different level of support to the head and neck. People that sleep on their front or back will typically need thinner pillows than someone who sleeps mostly on their side, this is to ensure the head and neck are in as natural a position as possible.

As well as different pillow styles there are many other factors than can affect peoples comfort and buying choices when it comes to pillows. The filling of pillows can be something people have to consider especially if they suffer from dust mite allergies, luckily there are pillows available that are best suited to allergy sufferers and so they wont need to spend sleepless nights feeling uncomfortable. The other fillings can range from synthetic materials or natural fibres such as duck or goose feathers and down.

A more recent change has been the introduction of memory foam pillows, these pillows contain a material that reacts to heat and the shape of your head. The material is hard and dense initially but as it warms up it moulds to your head, meaning your head and neck will be able to lie in the most natural and comfortable position. This material is also used in mattresses as well but can be quite expensive, to get the same effect but for less money you can buy mattress toppers that act like a thin layer of memory foam but without the large price tag.

There are also pillows that are more like throw cushions which can make good decoration for your bed or propping your head up when sat in bed either eating or reading a book.
