subject: The United States Is Planning To Broaden Its Covert Operatons In The Middle East [print this page] The United States plans to broaden its covert operations in several Middle Eastern countries and Africa. This is not a good omen to me because it indicates that the cancer of terrorism is rapidly growing and causing much harm. The thing that really gets my goat is that everywhere that we go we are seen as imperialists attempting to dominate the rest of the world which causes bad blood. Look at places like Somalia where a humanitarian mission turned into a case of the United States versus Somalia. This was not the intended purpose but this is exactly what it turned out to be.
We need to be very careful about how our presence is perceived throughout the world but at the same time we cant bow down to terrorism. Terrorists and terrorism will always be here. If we take the mindset that we will eliminate all enemies who resort to terrorism we will make a grave mistake that will bankrupt us both politically and financially.
Sometimes the time will come when you have to reevaluate your goals and plans and make corrections. Maybe we have come to that time in the war on terror. I believe that we would be more able to contain terrorism if we concentrate on keeping terrorists out of the United States rather than trying to root them out of the rest of the world. We seem to be in a self defeating spiral on this one. When we project our power overseas we are always seen as the villain. One case in point is when I look at the war being fought in Afghanistan. The entire world is complaining about civilian casualties, which is a very serious concern but I dont hear anyone complaining about the innocents that the Taliban and al-Qaeda uses as human shields. Many of the incidents are caused because of this.
We are already stretched too thin with the current war on terror. On top of that we have the deteriorating conditions on the Mexican border which may require the use of US troops to deal with. We only have so many and the pool which we choose from is not getting any larger. We cant wipe out terror in the world, nor can we wipe out terrorism so how far do we go?
Under the Joint Unconventional Warfare Task Force Execution Order we will increase surveillance operations in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Somalia. Now these are the countries that were mentioned but Im sure that there is much more to the order than we are aware of. The stated objectives of the order are to penetrate, disrupt, defeat, or destroy militant groups and prepare the environment for future attacks. Now that is the stated mission and to tell you the truth I dont have a clue in heck about whatever they are trying to say. I think that they are using some sort of Jedi mind trick on us to keep us stupid. This is so broad of a mission that it doesnt eliminate anything, nor does it specify anything. So in other words we will do just whatever we feel like we need to do. Dont get me wrong on this one because I would have written it the same way had I done it for my purposes.
Now they say that there will be no intelligence gathering in Iran (yeah right) because they dont want to upset the tipsy apple cart there on account of the nuclear situation. This operation will include mainly our Special Operations ring customers such as the CIA, and I am sure that when the situation dictates it will include elements of Delta Force, the Navy SEALs, and Army Special Forces. I would imagine that the CIA would get the brunt of the mission. Whatever the purpose of this action I certainly hope that it is successful so that it will save lives by eliminating the need for troops to be deployed and exposing terrorist plots before they can cause innocent casualties.
