Don't Overlook The Activities On Your Honeymoon

So much planning goes into the your big day that the honeymoon often gets overlooked. The destination is chosen, the flight is booked, and the hotel is reserved, but handling these tasks often just feels like more stress added to your checklist.

After you get married, you anticipate that you will want to spend the whole of your vacation lounging in the honeymoon suite, but believe me, I can speak from experience that this will get dull fairly quickly.

That means you need to do some more planning. This might seem like more than you can handle right now, but it might actually be a relief to sit down with your spouse-to-be and spend some time figuring out how you'll spend your spare time during this most special vacation.

To get some ideas, mosey on over to a local travel agent's office. Even if you don't book anything through an agent, they will have plenty of booklets full of favorite getaway activities in your chosen location.

Usually this way of getting ideas and making plans is superior to random internet searches because pricing is more predictable and the agency is more credible than some questionable companies that claim to provide services online.

However, if you do turn to the internet, you may want to have a travel agent help you sort through some of the search results and recommend tours and specific companies that provide fun activities in the area.

When you choose things to while away your time, you don't necessarily have to keep romance constantly on the forefront. While dining out at fancy restaurants and long walks on the beach seem like key parts to a proper honeymoon, you can venture into your more typical interests.

For example, my husband and I enjoy the great outdoors, so we went horseback riding, followed by a campfire cookout. Though this was punctuated by me fishing a moth out of my food, it created great memories and felt like a natural date.

Getting outside, no matter the season, is always fun. During the winter, sleigh rides and train rides create the perfect excuse to snuggle, while hiking, biking, and swimming during the spring and summer months can give you a little push to get into your hotel Jacuzzi to unwind later.

If you are on the seashore, then there are plenty of options for both the romantic and adventurous. Be willing to try some new things, but you should also think about booking a sunset cruise or go sailing in a private chartered boat.

Get yourself in the mindset for relaxing. While your hubby goes golfing, go get a massage. This is the dawn of your marriage--make sure the memories are fantastic!
