The question, now, is this What are the worst starting hands for Texas Hold em Poker? Here are the top five worst ones.

Top five: 2-9, 3-9, and 4-9. The only thing these three hands have going for them over the hands above is the 9. If this card pairs, then you will have a middle pair that could still be beat by anyone who is holding pocket 10s, jacks, queens, kings, or aces. You might even be fooled into thinking that you have the best hand and losing a lot of money by a board that is filled with low cards. Also, no straights can fill the gap between these cards. Top four: 2-6. If the board miraculously gives you a flop of 3-4-5, then you will have a straight. However, someone with a 6-7 will have a higher straight than you do. Similarly, if you get a flush, someone will probably have a higher flush. Against even four players, this hand will lose about ninety percent of the time, which is not a good probability.

Top three: 3-8 and 3-7. With the 3, this hand will be able to beat the two above it. However, with the 3-8, you will be unable to make a straight. Top two: 2-8. This pair of cards has the same basic problem as the 3-7 pair.

And top one: 2-7. 7-2 off suit is considered as the worst hand in Texas Hold em Poker. They are the lowest two cards that you can have that cannot make a straight. Also, even if they are suited, they will still give you a very low flush, or if either pairs, it will still be an awfully low hand.
