When you start to install the toilet in a new home, you first have to cut the hole in the floor. The hole must be cut to accommodate the size of the floor flange and the size of the toilet. A floor flange is what the toilet fastens on to and it also fastens to the drain pipe leading to the septic tank.
The flange should be tightly fastened to the floor. Now you need to use two brass bolts that hook into the flange and helps in keeping the toilet at its proper place. After finishing this step, you can install a wax seal at the toilet bottom.
In few wax seals, you will find little plastic seal as it fits in a much better way on the floor flange. It also helps in preventing the chances of leakage. After putting the wax seal, put the toilet straight onto the two bolts and make sure they come out through the holes provided at the sides of the toilet.
Tighten all the washers and nuts on the bolts, so that the toilet gets tightly fit to the flange. Keep in mind to tight the nuts of both sides simultaneously so that the toilet does not crack in between.
In case the flush box is separate in your toilet then you also need to install the flush box and hook up the water to it. After this check it against any kind of leaks. After using the toilet once or twice, again tighten the nuts and bolts because the wax seal tends to settle.
