The city is an area that is well-known for its views of the San Bernardino Mountains, Mt. Baldy, the San Jacinto Mountains and the Santa Ana Mountains above Lake Elsinore. Originally, the Pechanga and Luiseno Indian tribes inhabited the area until it fell under Spanish rule and was ceded to the United States from Mexico in 1850. Farming was concentrated in this area, and mining of quartz began in the early 1880s. The quartz that Menifee CA real estate is built upon was discovered by a miner named Luther Menifee Wilson, from whom the city derived its name.

Sun City spans four square miles and is located at the center within Menifee as a hub of both busy residential and commercial activity today. There are two public golf courses, two recreation centers with tennis courts and swimming pools and even a commercial center with shops for the residents to enjoy. The late 1980s saw another housing boom in the city and its surrounding areas with several beautiful, master planned communities. Today it continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in California, as does the entire area. Quail Valley is a bustling residential community that is located northwest of Menifee CA real estate, and Romoland is a commercial and residential area that is in the northeastern section of the city.

In June of 2008, residents of Menifee CA real estate and its included communities voted to become incorporated as the 26th city in Riverside County, and the new City of Menifee was officially incorporated on October 1, 2008.
