Dating Advice for Men

Dating advice for men can be a very confusing subject. Women may seem a bit intimidating, even to the man who is usually fearless in other aspects of his life. Take heart. You do not have to be psychologist to understand the basic ideas you need for dating success. You only need to focus on when you should think about yourself and when to think of the woman you want to date.

Focus on You

Focus on your grooming habits before the date. A woman may not say much when you do your average grooming, but vary one way or another and she is sure to notice. If you come to the date reeking of day-old perspiration and wearing torn, stained clothing, she will feel that you did not find the date worth the time to prepare. On the other hand, if you come looking especially well-put-together, she will be pleased and excited to be with you.

Take a look at your manners.

A woman may not expect you to be a page out of an etiquette book, but she will likely be turned off if you are too crude and embarrassing. The degree of crudeness you can get by with may depend on the situation or event, but it is a better idea to be polite and thoughtful during all dates.

Find your self-confidence.

Before you ever go into the date, remind yourself of all the positive traits and benefits you will bring to the dating experience. If this does not come easy for you, take a pen and paper or write in a word processing document. Brainstorm about what makes you desirable as a date. Then, go in with the attitude that you have a lot to offer.

Focus on Her

Another part of dating advice for men is how to focus on the woman. Get to know her as much as possible right away. Listen more than you talk. Ask questions, and when she answers, ask more questions about what she says in her response. You could overdo this to the point of making her feel like you are grilling her for information. Instead, try for a relaxed attitude where you are simply showing interest in her.

Notice her clothing, hair, and makeup.

You will be aware of these things subconsciously anyway, but bring the thoughts to the front of your mind. If she has done something especially beautiful with her looks, make sure to tell her exactly what you admire. By the way, there is no need to criticize her if you see imperfections.

Make her the center of your attention. No woman wants to be on a date with someone who barely seems to notice her. Put her comfort and enjoyment first. Show her a good time. You will understand what she likes if you have gotten to know her in the first place. Now, just put that information to good use.

Take your dating advice for men from people who you know have had successful dating relationships. Avoid taking dating advice from someone who has had a series of dates that never led to a further relationship. You will find that the person who has learned to form dating relationships lasting more than a single date will be better equipped to tell you what works best.
