subject: How Sex And The City Made Me A Better Marketer [print this page]

I can still remember years ago when I saw my very first episode of Sex and the City back in college. Instantly I fell in love with everything about the show, but I especially loved Carries writing style. I loved how she wrote as if to a fictional person, like she was having a conversation with her imaginary reader. I truly felt like I was her friend like so many other huge fans. Heck, I still feel like Im her friend!!

When I started my business a few short years later, I remembered Carrie and how she is every girls best friend. Shes intelligent, witty, fun, flawed, dresses super cool, and loves a good martini (who doesnt?)! It didnt take me long to realize that this is exactly what brides were looking for too - a friend, a confidant, someone who is human and down-to-earth, fun and full of personality, yet knowledgeable and full of friendly, expert advise.

Brides have plenty of moms, know-it-all friends and bridesmaids, and other pushy people in their lives. They dont need another one - especially not a paid pain in the rear! And, this is where we can bring our inner Carrie into our own businesses.

Your Bride Attraction Assignment:

Write like you talk. You dont talk like that teacher from Ferris Buellers Day Off do you (I really hope not!)? So why on earth would you write to brides that way on your website, blogs, other marketing and more? So many vendors make this painful mistake and it really hurts big-time in your wallet!

Your web copy should be exciting, informative, relatable, intriguing, and compelling. So should any marketing materials! Put more personality and pizzazz into what reflects YOU!

And lets not forget about those one-on-one consultations. Put more of you back into your business! (This is NOT the first time youve heard me say this!! Just look at our testimonials to see how this literally changes lives!) Everyone loves Carrie on Sex and the City because shes unapologetically her! When I realized that being more of me was the exact ingredient missing in my business - and immediately put a lot more of me back into the mix - magic happened in terms of marketing and booking brides!

Brides want you - not some copycat version of someone else. So go be more like Carrie, and just be.YOU!
