subject: Can Couriers Be Ordered By Email? [print this page]

In any line of business, email has gradually become the preferred method of doing business. This certainly applies to the courier industry which is one that is becoming ever increasingly automated. Any courier service Illinois based now probably has the ability to accept orders over email. This both provides an extra convenience to their clients and customers, but also allows them to increasingly automate their own internal processes.

In order to place orders by email with a courier company, you will probably have to have opened an account with them at some point. Courier companies typically have a wealth of different services and increased options that they only provide to those people that already have an account opened with them. This way, the customer has established credit with them as well as being a permanent file in their database, making it easier to execute electronic processes such as placing orders by email.

If you're ordering courier service by email for the first time, you might want to check with someone at the company before you do so to see what the procedures are for placing that kind of order. Most courier companies have several different email addresses that they use, and there is quite often going to be an exclusive email which is only used for taking requests for service. You will need that address in order to place your order over email.

There are other courier companies in place which have software in place which allows you to send an automated email to their service request system. In other words, instead of using your email client or webmail site to send an actual email to the courier company, you will fill out a form with all of the relevant information about your shipment. That form will then be sent directly into the system the courier uses and automatically place your request for service.

Sometimes the latter can be the smoother way to process email requests for service. The reason for this is that when a form is filled out, it is certain that all the required information is going to be provided. Sometimes an actual request for service in an email might overlook important details, necessitating a direct call from the courier company in the end anyway. This just ends up taking more of both your time and your couriers, so if you do have a form order option available, it is best to utilize it.
