subject: Interview Lies to Avoid [print this page]

Hey these are a few things you may not want to do. Lying is a natural no no but in this article I will explain why. And some of those little white lies may cost you. Here is another way to look at why you shouldn't lie. Imagine yourself in front of your interviewer explaining a lie. Not a pretty picture is it? See lying on your application wont get you the job it may get you the interview but then that could get embarrassing.

Putting the name of a friend in the place of the previous employer: Not only will you get caught but now you can also could get you into tax trouble. HR does in fact do their homework so please make sure you don't try this. Plus if it is a government job you could be prosecuted for falsifying your application.

Making up education and experience information: One of the quickest ways to look stupid is to falsify your skills. Just read my other articles here. I always talk about the tough interview questions. Whether you know your stuff will show up quickly. And people can confirm if you received your bachelors or other degrees. Even if your degree came from overseas.

Lying about why you left your previous job: Especially in cases where you say that you resigned, but were actually removed. Keep it as real and honest as you can.

In conclusion begin to craft or spin a positive on any challenges. But never lie because the worst thing is to get the job. Then realize you lost it due to a falsification on your application.
