subject: Quality Motocross Gear Can Give You The Edge [print this page]

There can be few adrenaline rushes greater than flying over an enormous mound and landing on two wheels before speeding away from your closest competitors. For many people, experiencing this high is limited to computer games such as Mario Kart, but on dirt tracks around the world, men and women riding powerful two wheeled motorbikes are pulling off stunts and speeding round dusty corners. But in a sport this wild, it is crucial that competitors are in possession of the right motocross gear.

Clearly in the many different disciplines that have spawned from motocross, the bike itself is hugely important. The bumps and jumps that make up motocross tracks put a great strain on the finely tuned piece of equipment between the rider's legs, and the suspension can often take a real battering, with riders getting some serious air before clattering the bike back to earth.

However, it is not just the bikes that feel the strain. Motocross is a physically demanding discipline as it requires the rider to keep complete control of a piece of equipment that tends to weigh at least 90kg. With the body under such duress, it is important that the riders' motocross gear is not too prohibitive and allows them a level of breathability. Generally, motocross riders will wear a jersey, MX pants, helmet and boots. Well designed kit will help to keep the rider cool, but must also be careful not to compromise their safety.

With big jumps and collisions a possibility, motocross riding is undoubtedly a dangerous sport and riders must choose their motocross gear with safety in mind. Some may wish to prioritise safety over comfort and purchase protective armour or pads, particularly the more adventurous riders or those who participate in high-risk freestyle events.

The motocross gear that riders can purchase isn't just limited to clothing and accessories however, as they can also choose to rev up their performance by modifying their motorcycle. Various parts are available, and many competitive riders choose to mix and match in order to minimise the weight of their vehicle for maximum performance. Other riders may be more interested in the aesthetics of their bike and can choose from a range of tailor-made and colourful parts to personalise their own ride.

Motocross riders certainly have their own unique style, and the attire associated with the sport is very much part of the fashionable extreme sports market that is currently proving very popular. This motocross gear is readily available and can really mark you out from the crowd.
