subject: Have A Unique House Without Breaking The Bank! [print this page]

You can make your house unique without having to break the bank. These days, it's all about mixing and matching or as they call it fusion. With the current global financial conditions right now, the trend for most people is to slightly renovate and refurnish their present homes, whether this be houses, condominiums, apartments or lofts. Here are some few ideas that may be worth considering as they are inexpensive as well:

- Change your door knobs. Sometimes, changing a regular door knob in your homes to a glass door knob is all you need. This change actually is a tangible one as the feel of a glass door knob is very different from a metal one. You can even use other types of door knobs and not just glass door knobs from different rooms of your home.

- Less is better. Get rid of the clutter. There is a tendency to accumulate more items as the years progress. Sometimes, this includes adding furniture to the point that it can choke up your space. What you can do is to actually have a garage sale and sell off some of the furniture you do not need. By doing so, when you want to buy new furniture, you can actually pay less for the new furniture because of the proceeds from the garage sale of your old stuff. It is the sum zero effect. Anything new that comes in, something old must go out.

- Organizers work. You should invest in organizers that are stackable. These can actually help your home be less cluttered. Especially when it comes to winter clothes and seasonal clothes, these can be stored in an organizer bin, and kept somewhere else from your closet till the season comes and it can be taken out for usage. What happens is that there is more room in your closet and it looks cleaner and neater.

- Paint the interiors. These days there are quick drying less toxic fuming paint that can be purchased in the store. You can use these types of paint for the interiors. Make it a family thing and ask your children to help paint with you or ask them if they want to change the paint in their rooms. Doing this also bonds the family together and it is an activity that is worth doing. Don't worry about any mistakes or mishaps especially done by your kids. The imperfection of the painting adds to the character.
