Career Change: Is Personal Coaching for You?

Are you looking for a fulfilling, interesting, and life changing new career? Then you may want to look into becoming a Life Coach.

Life coaching involves being a friend, relationship advisor, shoulder to lean on, personal cheerleader, business consultant, and all around disher of advice. Life coaches help people make sense of their lives and guides them through tough times and personal struggle. Take note that life coaches are not therapists. They don't go over people's past or prescribe drugs. They do however aid their clients to discover themselves and change their lives for the better.

You can divide personal coaching into three categories. First there's Life Coaching, where coaches help people reach their goals like getting a new job, or transitioning from working to retiring or helping them get organized with finances. You may think that people should be able to work some of these things out on their own but you'd be surprised. We all occasionally feel stuck and don't know where or who to turn to. Life coaches can serve as a proxy, non-judgemental friend, who you can depend on to give you straight from the heart advice, or even tough love. Life coaches are also there to support you and encourage you to do your best. Sometimes people just don't have that in their lives.

The range of areas that a Life coach covers is vast. It can be anything from money matters (paying your bills on time, increasing your pay, asking for a promotion, etc.) to physical fitness like a personal trainer, and from relationship problems (dating advice, going through a divorce) to confidence and communication enhancement (learning to talk to people, overcoming shyness).

Meanwhile, Career Coaching is specific to improving your career. It could be that the client is a stay at home mom who wants to get back into the work force or is looking to start her own business. Career coaches also help people achieve work goals and attain their business desires. Sometimes people take their work for granted and just coast through their jobs without any aim in mind. Career coaches can guide you through your career so that you can fulfil your potential and make your self wealthy in the process.

Executive Coaching involves helping entrepreneurs in business matters. Even big time businesses need executive coaches to keep them on track and develop their visions. Executive coaches give leadership seminars and communication workshops so that CEOs and Presidents, managers and workers can increase productivity and boost their business. Team building is also an important part of executive coaching. This improves morale and allows bosses to understand his team's dynamics better.
