With summer over and fall underway, it's back-to-school time, and all the fun that goes with that. Shopping for school uniforms, buying new notebooks and pens, and don't forget decorating your school locker! Whether you're attending a new school this term or you're staying in the same one, it's always fun to decorate school lockers and make them your own. Here are some ideas to help you get started.

First, obtain permission from your teacher to decorate lockers. Some schools may have rules about what you can use to decorate with. Be sure to stay within these guidelines.

Next, choose a theme or colour scheme for your locker. You may not have a specific theme in mind, but if you start picking through your photos, craft materials, or even toys and collectables something may occur to you. You could have a best friends theme and put up photos of all your best friends. You could have a nature theme and include dried or pressed flowers. Here are some other theme ideas: favourite movie characters, photos of your favourite places, holiday memories, favourite books, your favourite colours.

Besides photos, you can use just about anything to decorate as long as you stick it up with a removable sticky substance such as Bluetack. Here are some things you could stick up: game pieces, tiny toys, wrapped sweets, coins, beads, buttons, ribbons, shells, pressed flowers, drawings, postage stamps, sequins, pins, etc.

You can even get your friends involved and ask them to contribute an item or a drawing to your collage, or ask all your friends to autograph the inside.

Whatever you decide, choose a theme that will make you smile and feel cheerful whenever you open your locker. School lockers don't have to be just a place to store your books.
