subject: Lake County Chevy Camero Fans Have A Chance To Drive A Special Edition Indy 500 Model [print this page] Since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of being in the Indy 500. Ive always loved cars since the day I was born, and Im making that passion a reality in my automotive journalistic endeavors. But there is still the lingering feeling that Ill never be able to get behind the wheel of an Indy 500 car myself, especially considering Im so far past my prime. I will, however, be visiting the Indy 500 this Memorial Day, so thats a good start. Lake County Chevy dealers are giving people like me another way to get a little closer to the action with a new version of the Chevy Camaro a limited edition that may have one or two units showcased at your Lake County Chevrolet dealership in the near future.
What Im talking about is General Motors recent announcement that it will be building and releasing a limited amount of special Chevy Camaros, representing factory-made replicas of the pony cars inclusion as a pace car in the racing world. Lake County Chevy fanatics were ecstatic about the announcement but nervous about the fact that the brand seems to be releasing only a handful, about 200 or so, to the public for sale. The 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition models will be based on an SS or RS appearance package, featuring a 6.2-liter V8 engine that puts out a sexy 400 horsepower. The engine will be mated to a six speed automatic transmission, which is surprising for racing fans that are used to using a manual. Still, Lake County Chevrolet drivers are excited about the launch of this special edition vehicle.
The special new car, which is already very sleek looking, will benefit from 20 inch polished aluminum wheels that spin so fast around the track you can barely see them moving. Lake County Chevy enthusiasts enjoy the throwback style front grille that really feels nostalgic, recalling the look of the old 67 pace cars. The inferno orange color scheme will really throw a little nostalgia into the mix and help the vehicle stand out in any car collectors garage. Premium floor mats with accent colors and 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logos will adorn doors, driver and passenger headrests and front fenders. And the pricing isnt too bad if I dont say so myself. Were talking a low, low $41,950 for the whole shebang. This is great news for Lake County Chevrolet fanatics.
This special edition launch serves as a great differentiator for the recently struggling GM brand. Chevy has been under fire for awhile since the failure and subsequent bankruptcy of the Big Three, and its good to see that the brand is up and running and hanging onto some of its more charming nostalgias. When you walk into a Chevy dealer nowadays, youre no longer greeted with the desperation and general doomsday feeling that you could feel only a few years ago. Yes, it looks like the auto industry is putting itself back together again.
