Check whether your computer is compatible with Windows 7 by using Windows 7 upgrade advisor. Insert Windows 7 DVD drive. Select install. Instantly a screen will show up. Search for the setup.exe file in the DVD and run it. You will be given two choices online compatibility check and install now. But you have already checked for compatibility. Select install now. Next you will be asked to select 'latest updates for installation'. If you have the latest updates dont bother about this step. Go to the next step.

The license agreement will be displayed. You have the option of accepting or declining it. Select accept. The next step has two choices custom and upgrade. As we are upgrading from Windows Vista select upgrade. Users who are installing an operating system for the first time should select custom.
