subject: Be A Traditional Hindu Bride In Red Bridal Dupatta Saree [print this page]

Red is the most important color when it comes to Hindu weddings. In Hinduism, the color red is closely associated with weddings and, especially, the bride. Red is considered to be an auspicious color that denotes prosperity, well-being and good fortune. Traditionally the Bridal outfit of a Hindu bride has to be in the color red or at least have a touch of red since it signifies that the newlywed bride brings forth good fortune along with her as she weds and becomes a part of the grooms family. A newlywed bride is often fondly referred to as Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Even though Hindus constitute the majority in India, those belonging to different regions have their own ethnic and regional beliefs, customs and rituals. Apart from few exceptions, Hindus belonging to almost every region attach equal importance to the color red when it comes to Weddings or Bridal outfits. Be it Bridal Lehenga Choli, Bridal Salwar Kameez or Bridal Saree, a traditional Hindu Bridal outfit is expected to be in the color red. Since Saree is the most widely worn Indian outfit, red Bridal Saree becomes the obvious choice and a favourite with most Indian brides.

Since Hindu brides are required to drape a Dupatta over their head, Bridal Dupatta Sarees are the ideal Bridal outfit as the Bridal comes with matching Dupatta. Nothing can beat the traditional look that a red Bridal Dupatta Saree imparts. Since Bridal Dupatta Sarees come as a set of Bridal Saree and matching Dupatta, the whole ensemble looks harmonized without being terribly mismatched. A red Bridal Saree in georgette, crepe, shimmer georgette, etc featuring embellished pattern and attractive border is coupled with matching red Dupatta in a similar fabric featuring similar embellished pattern as that of the Saree. Heavy gold or golden finish Bridal jewellery completes the traditional Bridal look.
