subject: Why You Need A Mentor To Be A Successful Online Marketer Or Business Person [print this page]

Are you starting or stuck in your Internet business? I know how that feels; I've been stuck, too. Many, many times. That's why I know that you need a mentor. Makes life so much easier!

As you're starting out, there are many things you need to be a successful Internet marketer. One of those things is a mentor. Why?

There is so much to learn! Maybe you have enough money to hire someone to do everything for you and you only have to come up with ideas and content. But maybe you don't.

If you have to learn the many facets of technology (feels like several hundred to me) AND have to do your own copy writing AND have to stay in contact with your prospective buyers AND have to get them to sign up for your list in the first place...WHEW!

Are you getting the idea that you could easily be overwhelmed? Or that you might feel like quitting? Or do you feel as though you are spinning in circles, constantly busy but not accomplishing the things you want to do?

Well, THAT is exactly why you need a mentor.

A mentor is a guide. He or she will keep you pointing in the right direction so that you can move forward. She will answer questions. She may have information and resources at the tips of her fingers to share with you.

When you have a mentor, you don't have to work alone. You don't have to be struggling in the dark. A good mentor is a parent, an adviser, a teacher, a guide and a wealth of information all rolled into one.

What else will a good mentor do for you?

1. Do you have questions? She will answer all of your questions and make sure that you understand the answer.

2. Do you want to be successful? That person also wants you to be successful. When you do well, they look good and they feel good.

3. The person who mentors you will be there for you.

How can you choose someone who will truly help you succeed? What qualifications should they have? Where will you find her or him?

Lots of people "talk a good story." They say they will do so much for you. They make lots of promises that sound good. But the reality is that not everyone is a teacher (and even some real teachers aren't so good at what they do.) The reality is that some of them are so busy building their OWN businesses that they really don't have time to help you.

Word of mouth can be the best way of finding a good hair dresser or massage therapist and word of mouth can be the best way to find your mentor. If someone else is happy with their teacher, that may be the person for you.

The person who advises and supports you as you build your online business needs to have information that you can review over and over. She needs to explain things in words that you understand slowly enough and often enough that you can "get it." And she needs to be someone who you want to be like.

Maybe all you want to do is share valuable information so people can benefit from it like I do. There are so many steps you must take to get there. To avoid getting off course or even quitting in frustration, find someone who can "hold your hand" and give you the information and support you need.
