subject: Bacterial Vaginosis And Your Chances Of Getting Pregnant - How Would Having BV Affect Your Chances Of Getting Pregnant in The Future [print this page] I have suffered with BV for almost two years now and i am becoming concerned about what effects this may have on my chances of pregnancy in the present or future. So how would having BV affect your chances of naturally getting pregnant in the future?
This is question that gets asked allover on the net and many people will identify with it. That was exactly my problem too. I've been having problems with BV for about a year now. But to give you hope i am now 10 weeks pregnant with my first! :) So you should have no problems. It's weird how doctors can't give a reason as to why BV won't go away after taking the antibiotics and for me VERY annoying and frustrating, to think i have to deal with this for the rest of my life SUCKS. All my doctor tells me is some women just get it more than others, like a yeast infection.
Well I'm 10 weeks pregnant and still have it, currently I'm on antibiotics that i just got 2 days ago because i noticed the discharge wasn't normal discharge (that's how i know i got it again) so he gave me some meds to take for a week, but i told him "um don't you know I'll get this again in a week and that's probably not good for the baby" he told me BV won't hurt the baby but MAY cause pre-term contractions (scary) so for a while i have to take a low dose of antibiotics to keep it away, maybe even throughout my whole pregnancy.
Hope this helped (its sucks to have it i know) but there is hope. For a while i couldn't get pregnant and now a year later here i am! When you become pregnant though keep a closer eye! Also try summers eve famine wash, switch underwear, and wash your underwear in a diff detergent like woolite or something not strong, and eat yogurt daily. That's what my doctor told me.
To say the list, i don't think BV could affect your chances of becoming pregnant. But it can have an effect on your baby while you are pregnant; miscarriages, etc. so it is very good that you treat tis condition.
There is also this very great bacterial vaginosis cure guide which helped me a lot when I was struggling with my recurrent BV.
