The author Karan Bajaj is an IIM alumni and he is aiming to achieve never before heights with the next novel. The publishers also are leaving no stone unturned in their all out effort to conduct a massive marketing campaign for the book. In the first print run, the publishers are launching 50,000 copies and hope to touch the magic figure of 100,000 in the first year.

Expected To Click With The Masses

The publishers Harper Collins India believe there is a growing market for such books in India. They are convinced with the fan following of Karan Bajaj and the content of the book is also expected to click with the masses. The publishers plan to cater to the mass base by lowering the price points and achieving high volume sales for the book.

Reaching Out To Wider Audience

The marketing strategy was decided on the basis of observation of growth in the market and successful first book by the same author. The publishers Harper Collins India are trying to reach out to a wider audience thereby increasing their reach.

It Has A Big Canvas

The author further says he is not attempting to write about the adolescent urban angst or the other common popular genres in India. He terms the book Johnny Gone Down as an honest attempt which has a big canvass which makes its way through several countries and continents through the plot. The publishers confidence in the novel has given more confidence to the author to write bigger and brighter plots.

Its A Roller Coaster Ride

The protagonist of the novel is a 40-year old broke Ivy League scholar Nikhil Arya who takes an innocent vacation which sees him becoming genocide survivor, Buddhist monk, drug lord, accountant, software czar and a game fighter. Karan Bajaj doesnt feel nervous due to high expectations from the book, and believes success is just a relative term. While numbers are important for success, if he can touch a few lives and make a real difference, it would achieve the first purpose of becoming successful also. The underlying theme of the book whether an even keeled successful life is better than an interesting life which has extreme high and low points. Karan Bajaj believes his second novel is written after he has grown as a person and a writer and believes it shows in his writing.
