subject: Enhancing The Security Of Your Company [print this page]

In order to maintain efficient and smooth operations in your company site, it is essential that you have a good security plan in place. This would include several strategies and security measures that would protect not just your business operations but also your employees and your company assets. Here are several ways on how you can enhance the security in your company, regardless of the nature of business that you are in.

One of the primary things that need to be included in your security plan would be coming up with security policies that would be implemented throughout the entire site of your company. This could be as simple as making sure that the desks of employees are always clean and encouraging them to check if they are leaving any valuable at the end of the day. It could also include instructing employees to wear their IDs whenever they are inside the office.

You could also look into using cable locks or plate locks to secure electronic equipment in the office, including desktop and laptop computers, fax machines and other state-of-the-art office equipment that you have. Many companies make the mistake of not investing on good locks and end up paying the price later on when an inventory of the office equipment is done.

You might also want to consider using an access control system. An access control system would eliminate the need for the use of keys which could easily get stolen. Access cards could instead be issued to employees. You or your security department would be able to maintain control over what each access could open, allowing you to restrict the entry of employees, visitors and guests in any particular area. You would also be able to monitor how and when each card is being used.

Hiring one or more receptionists, depending on the size of office you have would also help you control entry. You can also install cameras and CCTVs or close circuit television systems around the office to note and record every activity that happens in and even outside of the office. Keep in mind, however, that having receptionists and cameras and CCTVs should be used efficiently with other security measures that you have in place.

Lastly, you should also invest in ensuring that your network, computers, data and programs are properly secured. Keep in mind that your company data, files and other intangible assets are probably worth even more than the physical assets that you have in your office.
