subject: Motorhome News: Top Gear Cliff-hanger... [print this page]

Once again the notorious Top Gear presenters have caused a stir with their latest outrageous stunt, this time involving a motorhome and a rather steep cliff. The Daily Mail website have reported that the Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond were seen rolling the Citroen to its destruction in the picturesque coastal village of Hartland, North Devon.

The Star website have proposed a new name for the hit TV show, saying Jeremy Clarkson and his petrolhead pals should rename the show Drop Gear after hurling a motorhome off a cliff in their latest stunt. The team have reached new heights with this risqu act of boyish stupidity, and even managed to attract an audience of local residents who watched from a far as the converted camper van rolled off the cliff before shattering into a million pieces.

The stunt is due to feature in the new series of Top Gear, which begins next month and promises to deliver on entertainment as well as amusement. The charming village of Hartland in north Devon is no stranger to film crews and has featured in films such as Jane Austens Sense and Sensibility however in this case there is definitely no sense or sensibility!

One of the common traits of a Top Gear stunt is that something usually goes wrong, ending in an amusing grand finale with the mischievous presenters always nearby. In true Top Gear style, one of the presenters is rumoured to leave the handbrake off the car, which results in the mobile home rolling off the cliff edge to its rather dramatic end.

Cliff-hangers are designed to have us on the edge of our seats, and judging by the reports this particular madcap act of motorhome madness will definitely grab our attention and might even make us think twice about checking that the handbrake is on.
