There are 3 types of wax - Paraffin, soy wax and beeswax that can be used in Candle Making. Paraffin wax is the oldest type of wax used for making candles. Some people use Soy wax because it is easy to use, is not made from petroleum, and not as expensive as beeswax.

Candle-making can be a time-consuming affair. Like any other Home business, you should first decide what kind of product you would like to sell. It is better to experiment and see what type of candle you would like to make. You can create Votives, Pillars, Jar candles, or Tapers.

While making Candles you should keep the safety aspect in mind. The biggest concern with candle making is melting the wax safely. Few people are so worried about this that they try to avoid the hobby altogether. One precaution is to have a Fire extinguisher close by when you are melting wax. However, some people make their candles in the kitchen, so it is good to have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen.
