subject: Your Goal Should Be To Get Healthy, NOT Lose Weight [print this page]

In our culture we see so many images of skinny women that it's easy to value looks over health. This is also one of the biggest causes of eating disorders. Once you start valuing your looks and weight over how healthy your body is, you've got your priorities upside down and can become very unhealthy.

Your main goal should be to stay as healthy as possible, not to lose weight and look like a celebrity or model. The diet companies feed off things like this, trying to get you to buy their diet pills and crash diet plans. This isn't going to change though, so you've got to change your mindset.

The real secret is that once your body is stable and healthy, the fat will melt off automatically. Eating healthy foods that are as natural as you can get is a huge contributing factor to your health.

You must stop focusing on your looks and weight. Starting today, don't weigh yourself every day, don't obsess how you look in front of a mirror. Shift your focus to becoming healthy, staying active, and eating for energy.

Stress can cause you to gain weight and prevent it from coming off. Your mind is a very powerful thing, so you need to get the reins and control what you're focusing on.

Eating disorders can be paralyzing for anyone, but you must not give up or give in and continue with it. Focusing on your health instead of your physical appearance is a good first step to take.
