Everyone wants job security but what absolute security is there, or has there ever been when considering the prestigious companies that have had to lay people off or have gone to the wall. It is tough out there in the world of work. When the cost of presenting oneself daily for work is properly brought into the equation not just in monetary terms but those unpaid hours, spent behind the wheel driving to work or on public transport. there can be quite a shock .Then there are also the car payments, after all the car is a work expense for 5 days of the week. It all adds up like more tax on the wages, cutting further into net pay or hourly rate . Often this suddenly brings the realisation that their working lives have been sold for less than was imagined and others have benefitted at their expense and the clock has yet to be invented that can be put back to a time when the future had promise. Being employed gave a measure of security but had never lead to the " glamorous lifestyle" that was the dream. The bigger home, a new car, better schools for the kids. What had happened? The harsh reality of unachieved hopes and aspirations is what happened. With only one life to live, prospects were cut to those enforced by the limitations imposed by the job.
However, not all is lost. While there is life, there is hope. It is not all over till the fat lady sings. What is needed ,is to generate a second income that will grow to become sufficient to buy those things that were hitherto only the stuff of dreams.
Sufficient to permit a new lifestyle. Sufficient eventually to replace the "job"
Mention the fact that someone is looking to start a new business in these harsh economic times will earn hoots of derisive laughter, but if a new business can survive today, it will be sure to triumph when better times come around.
Today, despite the recession, the Internet holds out the best prospects for those who are prepared to make the effort. It is the one growth area where more and more business is being done every day to the detriment of the world's High Streets.
One has only to go on line and surf a little to find adverts for every known product and generally at lower prices. There are adverts for every type of business and many established businesses are happy to grant affiliate status to applicants. Here one could advertise a product, for instance if you had worked for a sauna company, and you know a bit about these, this could be your new business. After setting it up with a suitable supplier you advertise , and get paid a commission on sales that result which your supplier handles.
More about this in my next article, One can very quickly be in a business requiring little or no investment. No Stock, debtors, creditors, premises or insurance. There is no reason why you could not be in multiple business's - like a freelance department store. No special skills are required and no special education. You just need imagination.
Looking back, many decisions are ultimately regretted for the missed opportunity, was it Confucius who said "even a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step"
The Internet is the biggest growth industry today with huge undeveloped and global potential. Fortunes have been made and will continue to be made and there are many people who have found undreamed of opportunity when they had almost given up. There are reports that many are earning in a week more than they had earned in a month. They too are on their way to finding their fortunes.
