subject: Don't Take These First Steps When Starting a Small Business! [print this page] Starting your own business is not an easy task to put it mildly. There are so many things to take care of that eventually one feels overwhelmed and don't know where to start. This leaves you frustrated and feeling demoralized.
There aren't many ways to go around this fact, you just need to work smart and get the processes in place that will make you money in the long run. Once you reap the rewards you'll feel the awesome sense of achievement from having built something out of nothing.
Fortunately the less experience you have the easier it will be to avoid the following pitfalls when starting out in business. Imagine yourself on the other side of the start up phase when your business is booming and all the "non believers" are congratulating you, saying how they admire your guts.
Lets look at three crucial aspects:
1. Get Lost Without a Plan
Like with anything else if you don't know where you are going you are probably going to land up there. What I'm saying is that having a business plan will help you to go towards where you want to go. Not everything will probably work according to schedule, but at least your business will have a course and the business plan is the rudder.
2. Be Rude to Your Customers
The surest way to fail is to totally ignore what your customers want. Before you do anything you should first get to know your ideal customers. Find out from them exactly what they are looking for and crucially what will make them take out their credit card and pay for your type of product. Without this information you will not be able to create a compelling sales offer.
3. Try to Hide Your Business
So many businesses have the right product matched to the right market and fail. What they forget is to put the message in front of their potential customers. Which ensures that the right people see the offer and actually purchase the product or service. You should always make sure that whoever is going to use your product should be made aware that it exists.
