Old cops teach new cops and so it goes.I see this every day in my practice. The Commissioner is well aware of what is going on but why should he do anything about it. It is very difficult to change a culture of an agency like the NYPD. You simply cannot hire 30,000 people who have the character and intellect to be honest and effective police officers, so all we get are warm bodies. Worshipping the numbers has turned the NYPD into a tribal, feud-riddent, stinking lying carcass whose only desire is to protect itself and its pensions and privileges, without actually doing police work. Whether the case is Domestic Violence, DWI, or assault, the lies will continue. Until the Mayor and Commissioner make real changes, we are stuck with a gang in blue.
