subject: Basic On-site Seo [print this page]

When you are building a website or web design, it is very important to think about building a website that is friendly to search engine, especially Google as far more people use google than any other search engine.

So while you want to build a nice looking website, their is a few things that you keep in mind, lets say you have a website with 5 pages on it, you should aim for a title for each page which you think people will search in google for.

A good idea is to check against google's keyword tool which is free and you can get a feel for the competition for your keyword, If you have a new site, I suggest going for a keyword that is not too competitive. For example, if your selling second hand nike golf balls, you should not aim for the keyword golfballs as I can tell you that you will never land of the first page of a google search. It will be better if you went for second hand nike golfballs to begin with.

Once you have decided on the keywords you want for each page, we will use "Website design bangkok" as an example, you should make sure it is in the following;

Title tage should be your keyword followed by your website for eg, Website Design Bangkok - webmasterbangkok.com (make sure it is different on each page)

Meta Description, should (not essential) start with your keyword for eg, Web design bangkok is a wonderful blah blah blah. (make sure it is different on each page)

H1 tag is a very important tag, this shows what the mane title that the browsers can see on the website, look at your HTML code and the H1 tag should surround your keywords and look like this, Web Design Bangkok, make sure this is ONLY USED ONCE on each page.

H2 to H6 tags can be used multiple times on a page, but used them wisely, you can use Golf Balls as a h2 tag, them maybe the brand of golf balls as a h3 tags. The idea is to have the tags used in this manner, but this does not really make a huge difference if you use only h2 tags or h3 tags for everything, but it is good practice to do it this way.

Their is more to on-site SEO, but this article is just to cover the very basics and get you going in the right direction.
