subject: Foot Pain Tips On How To Avoid Sore Feet [print this page]

Foot pain is an uncomfortable part of many people's daily lives. The range of possible foot pain related conditions are numerous and ever increasing in our fast paced demanding society.

Obviously, you can't change the shape or size of the feet that you were born with.

However, there are several steps you can take to make your feet more comfortable and pain free.

Use Arch Supports.

Arch supports can be helpful in treating a wide variety of foot problems. These include flat feet. It may be that in more severe cases you will need to order a custom fitted support from your podiatrist.

However in most cases, an over the counter support will perform the necessary function just fine.

Consider Cushioned Shoe Inserts.

The use of cushioned shoe inserts can make a considerable difference to how your feet feel at the end of a long day. This is particulary true, if you walk a lot or stand up for long periods of time.

Try to obtain insoles with a gel cushioning as these provide the most comfort and support. If you have flat feet or fallen arches, then arch supports can be a major assistance.

Adopt an Exercise and Stretching Regime

It is advisable to adopt a regular regime of exercise and stretching in order to relax the foot muscles.

This is particularly useful for those around the ankles, as this will make a considerable difference to your comfort level.

Use Pain Creams and Over the Counter Pain Relievers.

These measures whilst obviously not a long-term solution, are quite useful for the provision of temporary relief from foot pain and discomfort.

It is not a good idea however to rely on these for a long time (especially medications) If pain and symptoms persist do seek advice from a suitably qualified professional.

Adopt a Daily Foot Care Regime

As a general rule it is useful to adopt a daily regime of looking at your feet and taking prompt action to address any concerns.

Inspect your feet for blisters, corns, calluses, swellings or other problems and treat accordingly.

Make Prevention a priority

Aim to keep your feet in the best possible shape by treating them to regular preventative sessions be this massage, chiropody or other foot maintenance regime.

Remember also that prevention is far better than cure, so aim to promptly address any specific foot issues and pains that you may have.

There is so much more to learn about how to ease foot pain - this article has only scratched the surface so do research further. You owe it to your feet!
