The phone is complete with a 300MHz processor and equal read-only and random access memories of 256 megabytes each. Expandable memory is available with microSD rads and is also compatible with SD 2.0 cards. Music and video playback are both provided with all common audio and video file formats supported. The Smart provides email and all the other usual messaging capabilities. When a contact is chosen, it puts all the latest emails, text messages and Facebook update on screen, besides just the contact name and picture. Threaded text messaging is also supported, as is instant messaging.
Widgets included with the handset are a calendar, alarm clock, calculator and to-do list. Widgets are organised by the phone itself, through different scenes. There is a scene for during the week, which offers shortcut keys to places such as email and calendar, and another for the weekend with shortcut keys to social networking and music. There is also a scene which is customisable by the user.
The handset has a 3 megapixel resolution camera with fixed focus and an LED flash/light. The web browser featured is full HTML and has built-in support for the social networking giants Facebook and Twitter. The phone also offers both polyphonic and music (MP3) ringtones, flight mod, speaker phone and voice recording.
The phone is easy to navigate through with simple widgets and user interface presented through its 2.8 inch TFT-LCD touch sensitive display. Networking is 3G in Europe and Asia, although this is a quad band handset, with EDGE, GPRS and GSM as well as HSDPA mobile broadband.
The HTC Smart has been released to offer a highly functional mobile handset to all mainstream users including a good camera, touch screen display with double tap zoom, and a straight foreword and easy to manage user interface. It also offers the mainstream consumer easy access to contacts, emails and messages, as well as both portrait and landscape web surfing and video playback among other multimedia capabilities.
