Yes it is true that what makes an interaction turn into a sale is one party agreeing to be the buyer. You'll need lots of information, experience at answering questions and overcoming objections and,of course, the ability to have someone "sign on the dotted line". But remember - none of this, not the knowledge, the style nor the expertise will serve you well if you haven't mastered the truism that the customer is #1.
