subject: That Rubber Around Your Foot [print this page]

Ever wondered why those Spartans from the movie 300 kicked millions of Persian butts? Its not just their size neither the sole spirit of nationalism nor their mere natural instinct. Leonidas slaughtered his enemies because of his footwear. If one guy with a terrible beard and disgusting body odor can pull out a victory, imagine adding 299 more with reliable footwear purchased from some Spartan flip flop supplier.

A stupid idea? Not really. Heres why.

Sun Tzu, the author of Art of War, teaches us the strategies and conditions to win a war. One of Sun Tzus five philosophies of strategy is Tien or climate. True, climate, weather, winds, and heat meant uncontrollable natural forces. However, working with Tien gains warlords incredible advantages.

Think of the Roman Empires soldiers. They ravaged each corner of the 6.5 million kilometers they owned. The problem in their territory is the climate. There are a number of campaigns when the suns gentle rays boiled their phlegm. Instead of tight and closed animal-skin footwear, the worlds greatest military commissioned Roman stores selling wholesale sandals. Not bad for an empire relying on leather flip flops for more than a millennium.

Its not only ancient folks used sandals instead of shoes. If you think your rubber flip-flops are just an ordinary necessity for your bathroom hours, think again. The Viet Cong wore sandals and flip flops made from rubber tires. The war in Vietnam was fought between Americans, Viet Cong, and Viet Minh until Saigon fell in 1979. Who won? The guys on their rubber slippers with Marxs utopia in their constitution.

If we will look at history, its amazing to see that the rise and fall of nations was walked with sandals and slippers first before shoes. Unlike my grandfather who use his flip flops to combat the trespassing foxes back in the farm, great and small governments carved their names on the pages of pinnacle of immortality standing on their leather and rubber sandals.

The truth of the matter is I just found out about these accounts just recently. Forced by my wife through psychological war which I am always the loser, I went online to buy Havs, short for Havaianas. Working with another paper on WWII, I interchanged the words by cleverly using the copy/paste function.

I greatly appreciate small information and easily put them inside my skull for future mental discussions. Who knew that by buying a simple Brazilian flip flop would make me learn more about history. I appreciated it so much that Im now looking for sandal and flip flop USA sites with designs very similar to Brad Pitts in the movie Troy.

Aside from being thankful for her new flip flops, my wife also praises my recent obsession. She thinks Im overdoing it. But cmon! This is not madness. This is flip flops!
