subject: Mind Power Techniques - 3 Mind Power Techniques That Don't Work [print this page] While there are some very powerful mind power techniques you can use to "program" your subconscious mind to aid you in your getting what you want in life, most of the ones you hear about in personal development or self development books, programs, seminars, and websites have little, if any, effect on the subconscious mind, at least the way most people apply them...
Here are three frequently recommended subconscious mind power techniques that either don't work at all or don't work the way most people use them:
Mind Power Technique #1 - Affirmations
An affirmation or self-affirmation, as some people call them, is essentially a statement you make to yourself about yourself, usually phrased in the first person, present tense, as if you already have whatever it is you desire. Statements you make to yourself, orally or just mentally, such as "I am wealthy", "I am healthy", and "I am successful" are affirmations.
Used correctly, affirmations can have a *very* powerful effect on your subconscious mind and thus, in your getting what you want. On the other hand, used incorrectly, the way most people use them, merely repeating the phrase or phrases to themselves over and over and over again, they have little, if any, effect on your subconscious mind and thus, in your getting what you want.
Mind Power Technique #2 - Subliminal Programming
Said to create change without any effort on your part by merely listening to and/or watching them, you'll find "subliminal" and "self-hypnosis" CDs, DVDs, and software out there all over the place on practically any subject you could possibly ever conceive of - becoming a better parent, increasing your sex drive, and turning yourself into a "money machine" are just a few of the many available.
Maybe these subliminal programs work for some folks, though I've yet to meet anyone they've worked for, but I experimented with these on and off for years, back when they were pretty much only available on cassette tape (remember those?), and, quite frankly, they never had any effect on me whatsoever. Neither, for that matter, did so-called "self-hypnosis" programs.
Mind Power Technique #3 - Create a "Positive" Environment
The idea here is, I'm told, is that by surrounding yourself with "positive", "motivational" signs, posters, and other "reminders" at home and at work, their messages will somehow magically "seep" into your subconscious mind and thus "energize" you and effect "positive" change in your life.
Although creating a "positive environment" for yourself at home and at work certainly doesn't do any harm, as these signs, posters, and other "reminders" soon become part of the "landscape", so to speak, that you don't even notice after awhile, personal experience tells me they don't do a whole heck of a lot of good either, at least as far as constructively influencing your subconscious mind is concerned.
There are extremely powerful mind power techniques you can use to influence your subconscious mind to aid you in getting whatever you want in life. Unfortunately, regardless of all the "hype" they receive, affirmations, at least the way most folks utilize them, subliminal and self-hypnosis CDs, DVDs, and software, and "positive", "motivational" signs, posters, and other "reminders" are not among them, at least not in my experience.
