subject: The Sony Ericsson Elm Provides Greenheart Status [print this page]

The Sony Ericsson Elm is a GreenHeart handset from the respected manufacturer, due to it having been made using recycled plastics and without resorting to including hazardous chemicals either. The phone which features a 5 megapixel camera and easy access to emails and messages, also provides a great noise filter to block noise from around the user while on the phone, to make voice calls easier than ever from anywhere.

The handset has integrated aGPS navigation, used for geotagging photos and videos, by the preloaded Google Maps application, and for the manufacturers own navigation services, Wisepilot, which offers simple turn by turn navigation.

The Elm also makes social networking easy with the integrated Facebook application, while still offering email account synchronization, enabling both social and work life to be taken anywhere, and the two groups kept in touch with.

The 5 megapixel resolution camera has autofocus and Photo fix which automatically adjusts the colour, contrast and brightness levels to produce a clearer and more refined image with every photo taken. These are aided by the digital zoom (up to 4x zoom), and the flash and video light, because video recording is just as well supported.

As is always the case with a handset from Sony Ericsson, this phone does not let the user down with anything less than the usual wealth of entertainment and music features it offers. The Media Player keeps music and videos in one place, and PlayNow enables the user to add to their library which has been automatically sorted for them, by downloading more music, videos and 3D games also. Music and video soundtrack can both be enjoyed either through the handsets 3.5mm traditional jack plug, or for a wireless experience through the Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) offered.

TrackID provides a simple way to identify great music that may wish to be added to the phone. Using the integrated Sound Recorder, a few seconds recording of an unknown tune playing can be easily identified and the necessary artist and track information provided. SensMe meanwhile, is a function which helps to create playlists based on the different moods of the music in the library.

Multimedia, messages, emails and more can all be stored with up to 16 gigabytes worth on microSD cards, with the handset having an internal storage memory of 280 megabytes respectively.

The Sony Ericsson Elm is an excellent choice of phone for any environmentally conscious music and video lover, who may also happen to enjoy keeping up to date with friends through Facebook, sharing photos and videos which have only just been captured, while still able to respond to those emails from work.
