If history tells us anything, there are many great businesses that were started in times when the economy was not doing well. Starting a business does not need to be expensive, starting a business on the internet is very inexpensive to do, plus all business are on a equal playing field. People who have ideas and a great drive to succeed are those people who start businesses that are successful.

When researching how to start a business on the internet there are a lot of myths, people have claimed that they made a fortune in a couple of days or weeks. As all successful people will tell you the formula is simple, hard work and the perseverance. The first thing to do is to create a plan, you need to know where you are going and how to get there. Next have a goal you want to reach. By doing this you will always be on track.

To start an internet business it does not depend on if you are a part time or a full time worker, it is still easy to start. Spending 8 hours a day and spending a lot of money is not necessary when starting an internet business, the business can be accessed from anywhere, it is easy to maintain, if the drive to succeed is there the business will most likely do well. There are still laws that apply to business on the internet, for example, patents, copyright laws and taxes to pertain to the business. If the business is selling products that are not physical the digital laws still apply and advertising on the internet will also apply. Getting started is easy, here are some pointers.

1. Think of a domain and register it

2. Don't know how to design a website, download a free template on the web

3. Don't know anything about html, use FrontPage or Dreamweaver

4. Find out as much as possible about internet marketing

5. Need traffic right away, use Ad-Words, pay for traffic

6. Need one way links, submit to many directories

7. Need one way links, submit to many article sites with an article your wrote.

8. Every business needs a Facebook page, create one

9. Every business needs a Twitter page, create one 10. Have something to say, comment on forum or blog

To be successful you need to keep pushing forward, just because you do the steps above does not mean instant success, you need to work at it. Everyday try to a different task to increase your market share and attract more people to your business. The more people that know about your business the better it is. If you start to think about other things try to keep on track most business fail because people think they are not accomplishing anything at quit. If you feel like quitting, take 1 or 2 days off and see a movie or read a book to take your mind off of quitting.
