Gas One of the various projects of electronic musician Wolfgang Voigt, Gas is said to be a project based around Voigts drug fuelled trips in Germanys black forest as a youth, and the music is his attempt at bringing the forest to the disco, or vice-versa. The material of Gas is often noted for its dense and hypnotic sound, with a repetitive kickdrum sound giving the music its transfixing quality. His songs are noted for not having any straightforward progression with Voigt more inclined to let the songs beat their own path, and shift as they see fit. His music has seen a resurgence lately when his record label, Kompakt, re-released all four of his records as a compilation under the title Nah und Fern.
