subject: When Is It Suitable To Buy Knee High Boots? [print this page]

When buying knee high boots you need to consider what color and style of clothing you wear the most, what season you plan to wear them and what, if any, heel do you feel most comfortable in.

It's very easy to wear this style incorrectly and end up looking cheap or tacky. For instance, Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman is the only person on the planet that could pull off knee high boots with spandex and teased hair, do NOT try that at home.

You want to appear classy and comfortable with a slight sexy edge, which is exactly what these types of boots will give you if they are worn correctly. First of all you need to figure out what style and color of clothing you wear the most, and are you planning on wearing your knee high boots often or just on special occasions?

If you plan to wear them frequently you should probably go with a flat boot or a very small heel. Most people cannot handle wearing a tall heel every day, whether it be to work, shopping or the ball park with your family; however, a flat knee high boot would definitely be appropriate for all of these occasions.

Also, if you wear a lot of black then it's safe to go with a black boot, but a brown or tan shade would go great with almost any color including black. Stay away from gray boots. They just aren't practical and in my opinion do not look good with any color of clothing. Oh and if you're going for a boot with a high heel, I would say stick to a neutral color. Black knee high boots with a heel will come across a little dominatrix, which can be extremely hot, but you need to be sure that you are ready to make such a strong statement.

No matter what color you choose for your boots, it's best not to pair them with shorts. I have never seen that look "work" for anyone. Knee high boots are great in winter with jeans or a sweater dress and can also be fun to wear in the warmer seasons with a summer dress, especially if you go with a flat, neutral color. No matter what style or color of shoe you use, let the boots make the statement and keep the rest of your outfit simple and sexy.
