subject: Value Your Life; Know Your High Blood Pressure [print this page]

High blood pressure is said to be normal when the reading is 40/90mmHg. Lower blood pressure when it reads 90/60mmHg, though this is very rare and not seen as a problem. A reading of 140/95mmHg is very worrying but one of 160/95mmHg requires an immediate treatment because it's very serious. To control BP undergo regular medical check ups even when you are not sick. Quit smoking because it hardens arteries and damages blood vessels increasing pressure on the heart. Do regular exercises for at least 30 minutes everyday, go for yoga lessons and practice controlled breathing. Keep off stress, eat food rich in vegetable, fruits, whole grains olive oil and cut down on salt and sodium rich foods.
