subject: Can We Just Stop And Talk Awhile? [print this page] We live in a busy worldWe live in a busy world. Especially in the metropolitan areas, things seem to be in constant flux. If you look at the people walking down the streets, they seem to be rushing going from one place to another. Everyone seems to go on hyper speed, even when eating. The numerous fast food establishments and quick orders are mostly the norm for most people. And when it comes to dieting, the idea of losing weight in one week appeals to those who do not have the time to lose weight in a traditional manner.
To lose weight in one week is achievable but without the proper maintenance, the gaining of more weight may be inevitable. We all need to slow down once in a while to get our bearings and appreciate some of the things in life that are often overlooked. Here are some things you can do to slow down and just do that:
- Wake up earlier and have breakfast with your kids. Try spending at least ten minutes in the morning with your kids, if they are still in grade school, during breakfast. This is the time when everyone is still fresh and perhaps asks them about their previous day or the day to come. You would be surprised at what you learn. They grow up so fast and you better not miss them while they still are at the house and while they still want to be hugged by you. By showing them that you are interested in their day, you re-enforce your care for them. It is appreciated by both your kids and your wife.
- Take some time to talk to your wife everyday. Communication is important in such a relationship and often we take our spouse for granted. By really talking to them, asking them how they are and not just asking her the activities for the day, you show your appreciation for her and moreover, you are genuinely there to hear her out. This provides a good foundation for a solid relationship.
- While at work, take at least five to ten minutes for yourself. If you want to take a power nap, do so but do it perhaps during lunch break or coffee break. This recharges your batteries and makes you ready for the rest of the day. You may even take off during lunch and have a stroll in a nearby park or go to a museum. Doing this may give you a better perspective about life and work.
