Additionally, the channel strategy will look at how difficult the tasks of marketing, sales, and partnerships will be based on the final strategy determination. Ideally, the strategy will make the target group well segmented and clearly defined so that the marketing team can easily find the target and generate quality demand for the products and services being sold to the channel. An example here would be for the channel strategist to identify targets by vertical market or by geography. It is much easier to market to restaurants than just simply retailers. The reason is that the term retailers is overly broad and can apply to a wide spectrum of different businesses. In contrast, marketing to restaurants or better yet, restaurants within a specific geography will increase the probabilities of a proper product or service being offered to the customer.
