Easy steps to finding a reputable alarm installation engineer.

A home burglar alarm system can be a very sensible home security investment, but there are points everyone must know before they place an order.

In some areas and your area is no different, there has been a considerable increase in residential burglary, and as soon as those numbers go up, the number of door to door salespeople calling for home security systems goes up as well.

Regrettably, many of these pitches are hard sell and they really go to town playing on peoples fears and they can be quite unsettling for some people because anxiety about burglary and other crimes is high. Furthermore these high pressure tactics arent designed to allow you to make a thoughtful decision about the purchase.

There are several very good reasons not to purchase alarm systems from a door to door salesperson, especially on the spur of the moment. The most important is that you don't have time to research the company.

Don't allow yourself to be pressured or frightened into buying from someone at your door step no matter how enticing their pitch may be. If they are reputable they will leave you a brochure, so you can contact them if YOU decide that you are interested in buying an alarm system from their company.

A reputable company will allow you time to think about their offer and compare products and services before buying. In some cases, you may be entering into a long term contract so always ask questions and then think before ordering.

As well as purchasing an alarm system, everyone should take a good look at what other measures they can take to reduce their risk of burglary.

Are your window and door locks secured?

Are your windows obscured by bushes that could shield thieves?

How easy is it to gain access to your back garden?

If you go out have you got your lights on an automatic timer?

Do you leave a window open for the cat?

If you go away arrange for someone to use your parking space.
