subject: Get Back Together With An Ex [print this page]

One thing that you can find a lot of advice for online is how to get back together with an ex. There are so many people who find that they should never have broken things off with their ex in the first place. Some people make the mistake of thinking that just because their relationship isn't all fireworks and stars that they no longer love their partner, so they go off to find greener pastures only to realize that the grass isn't greener and that they really did love their partner. This is a tough thing to overcome, once you've broken someone's heart it's not going to be easy to get them to trust you enough to let you in again, difficult, but not impossible.

Since it is all about trust and trust takes time to build or re-build you have to be willing to be patient before you start the process of getting back with your ex. If you expect things to happen quickly and try to rush, you will most likely scare your ex away for good. Make sure before you even begin the process that you are going to be able to take it slow and invest the time needed.

When it comes to rebuilding trust the first thing you have to do is to figure out how you screwed up the first time around. What mistakes did you make that put such a strain on your relationship? And, more importantly, are you willing to work on fixing those character flaws? Just knowing what the problem was is only half of the equation, being willing to face some cold hard facts and make significant changes to the person you are and the way you act (permanent changes) is the other half, the more difficult half.

When you are dealing with your flaws, make sure you give you ex some space. Don't call bragging about how much you are changing just wait. Its good to realize that you both have along history of broken promises and flaking out. This leaves no reason for your ex to actually believe that you will change. It is always better to stay away from the and work on yourself so when the time does come you can show them how much you have changed. Showing them how much you have changed is much more powerful then just telling them.

Once you've spent time (probably several months) addressing your issues and making changes, you should call up your ex and try to set up a meeting. The number 1 rule to remember here is to keep it casual. Don't even mention your relationship or the fact that you want to get back together. If all goes well your ex will notice the changes you've made and they may even be the one to suggest giving things another try.

If you give this advice an honest try, it may work for you. many people have used these methods with great success and you can too.
