subject: CPA Marketing - The In's and Out's [print this page] Cost per Action is sometimes seen as the next step on from building niche sites and marketing Clickbank products.. At face value CPA seems a better proposition as you can start reaping the rewards almost instantly instead of waiting weeks or months (if ever) to hit page 1on Google with a website. Unfortunately unlike, say Clickbank, CPA networks are somewhat choosy in who they let in . For one thing they do a kind of interview with you, normally on the phone, to find out if you know what you are talking about, how you will market their client and if you are a proper company rather than a 12 year kid sitting in his bedroom.
When you join a CPA network you are normally assigned an Affiliate Manager who's job it is to make sure you make as much money as possible. Affiliate Managers help you to choose the right products that fit your form of marketing, their main aim is to help you earn cash. Of course the Affiliate manager as a very good reason for helping you make money. The more money you earn the more bonus they get as they are paid directly on what their marketers earn. Unfortunately if you do not earn as much as others you may have to fight for their attention a little bit. I must state that through my experiences with AMs I have yet to come across one that is not helpful, open and very friendly.
Now, CPA offers come in a large variety of guises. Zip and Email submits are an ideal way for the beginner to get into CPA, they are by far the best converter. You also want to start off on a Pay Per Lead rather than a Pay Per Sale basis. These are quite well converted and normally pay around a dollar every time someone clicks through one of the Ads and passes over either their Zip or email address. The great thing about these offers is that you will still earn cash even if nothing is bought which makes it a beginners ideal. You must also bear in mind that an advertiser may drop you if the traffic you send them via a "Lead" campaign is not targeted enough to lead to a certain amount of sales. To be honest it is not free money, they are not doing it for you, they want to close sales.
CPA networks offer a lot of choice but you do have to keep an eye on what products you select to market . The strictness in the way they insist you market a client products means you may not be suitable . Some allow Search Marketing but do not allow contextual marketing, some others allow banners but not text etc. PPC Search is allowed by most but you have to watch what keyphrases are allowed, some restrict you from using brand names for instance. You should always abide by the rules, if the network get s too many complaints they will ban you and cut off your access. Some people try and join other networks after receiving a ban but they do not realise that these guys all talk to eachother so you may end up in a situation where none of them will have you.
Selecting the right product or advertiser is very much a trial and error thing. Persistence is needed and the ability to change Landing pages, products or even types of campaign to finally find what works for you. Guaranteed though is once you get all the right things together the cash will start to come in. Ride it when this happens as a lot of campaigns stay "Hot" for quite a few months.
