Avista Capital Partners announced the appointment of long-time Washington insider, Jim Nussle to its Advisory board in February. Citing Nussle"s experience both in business as well as governmental agency regulatory issues, the firm welcomed the form Iowan Congressman and ex-Whitehouse Cabinet member to its team. Nussle will be adding his service on Avista"s Board to his already busy schedule as President and CEO of The Nussle Group, his own strategic planning and public policy consulting firm.

In a statement, Avista"s leadership praised Nussle as they issued their official welcome. Citing Nussle"s achievements in areas as diverse as healthcare reform, energy and media regulation, Thompson Dean, one half of Avista"s Manager/CEO duo went on to praise these attributes and then tie them in to Avista"s own interests. After all, it is well known that Avista's strategy is aimed at influential minority investments in expanding companies in the energy, healthcare, and media industries. As noted by Thompson, Nussle"s long years of labor have left the man with keen insights into these industries and he hopes that they will be able to utilize Nussle"s expertise to strengthen Avista"s position in the marketplace.

Avista"s top brass avers that they believe Nussle"s will provide them an asset, lauding his ability to advise and help direct the company with regard to current issues as they relate to companies that are already on Avista"s portfolio, as well to any potential investments they are assessing. For his part, Nussle state he was excited to be part of a firm, such as Avista, and hoped that his hard earned experience in the realms of public policy and regulation would prove beneficial to their growth. In his statements, Nussle specifically mentioned Avista"s interests in the arenas of natural gas and other energy sources, as well as those in healthcare and other related fields, and alluded to his being able to offer his new firm keen insight into the effects of public policy on their investments in those areas.

Having served the George W. Bush Administration as Director of White House Office of Management and Budget from 2007 until 2009, Nussle had spent the previous 16 years as a member of the United States House of Representatives, serving the people of the state of Iowa, Nussle is more than qualified to aid six-year-old Avista Capital Partners in their mission to partner with management in order to both invest in and to add value to business that show signs of steady growth. With their new Advisory Board member"s solid background in the politics involving their primary areas of investment, Avista has augmented an already talented team of business, management and financial experts.
