- Set specific goals. Whether you want to lose weight or earn more in the next couple of years, it is not enough to tell yourself just that. To make your goals more attainable and concrete, you have to set specific goals. Say, if you want to lose weight, set a specific target like loosing 10 lbs in 6 months or you want to make millions in the next five years. This way, you can also monitor and assess where you are with your goals.

- Be realistic with your goals. If you want to change the world, you can dream about that but making it your goal would be a little hard to attain. In setting and achieving goals, it is important to be specific and realistic. That is why it is important also to weigh down your strengths, your abilities, skills as well as your weaknesses so that you will be able to set attainable goals. It does not necessarily mean easy, but those that can be done.

- Write down your goals. Writing down your goals is one important strategy that can help you focus yourself into achieving what you want. Having your goals written down is also one way of helping you focus on them and not just 'seeing' your goals in mind but actually seeing it with your eyes. This will also help you keep track where you are with your goals as you work on them each day.

- Divide bigger goals into sub-goals. Indeed, you can dream big and set big goals for yourself. However, you have to make it more attainable, you can divide it into smaller sub-goals or divide them into short-term or long-term goals. This technique also helps you get motivated as you find fulfillment in every goal that you accomplish or attain from time to time. Working on a big goal can also be frustrating especially if you do not know where to start and you grow tired of waiting for results.

- Be positive about your goals. Setting and achieving goals also involves self-confidence. You have to believe that you can reach for your goals and you can make it happen. If all you have are negative thoughts, and you not even try to make your plans work, then you might want to work on building your self-confidence and re-training your mind towards positive thinking.

- Make a detailed plan on how to achieve your goals. Again, planning with your imagination may not be as effective as writing it down and making detailed descriptions of the steps that you will undergo to reach whatever it is that you desire in life. Writing down something can also help you plan well.

- Seize opportunities and take action. Most importantly, plans are not just written, you also have to work on it. Give time, focus your energy and your resources towards its achievement and make sure that you also reward yourself for every goal you achieve.
