subject: Save Cash By Doing A Credit Card Comparison [print this page]

Have you been using the same credit card for years? If so, it might be time for you to make a credit card comparison. Not everyone realizes how much difference there is between credit card providers and the services they offer. You may find that you will benefit by switching.

One of your first considerations should be the annual interest rate you're paying on your card. Almost every card holder has at least some balance due on their card from month to month. Interest is charged on that monthly balance. Over time, it adds up to a significant amount of money and even a savings of one or two percent represents a big savings over time.

Do you pay attention to the rewards program your credit card company offers? Many people don't give it a second thought, but in fact, some of these rewards can be substantial. Look into the rewards programs of some different companies and see what you can get.

You may also want to think about getting a special card for your business or work. Gas company credit cards, for instance, are great for people who use their cars for business. If you use them conscientiously, it saves you a lot of time when income tax season comes around.

Another great reason to consider changing credit card providers is the incentive they offer to those who switch. They often offer cards interest free for 6 months or even more. If you owe money on your card but are usually just paying the minimum, this gives you the opportunity to quickly reduce your balance throughout the interest free period.

If you want to get a higher credit limit or upgrade your card, but have been refused by your current provider, another company may be willing to give them to you. They want your business and will see that as an incentive to switch to them.

Ensure that you are getting the most from your credit card. Do a credit card comparison check every year.
