subject: An Alternative To Working Out [print this page] Very few people (especially women) have time for working out. It interrupts the flow of the day and the common person does not know how to properly work out. All this being on top of the feeling of not wanting to work out anyways.
The problem is, you have this little bird over your shoulder reminding you that you need to get into some sort of shape. Yes, eating healthy will get you far along the path of your goals, but unfortunately, nothing hits the spot as exercising does.
But every fiber of your being doesn't want to work out. Well... don't. Why do something you won't enjoy and will eventually give up when there are alternative methods?
Unless you are training for a sport, most people work out lightly. Meaning they are looking to burn some extra calories or tone up a muscle group or two. Therefore, the "working out" can be substituted for another activity.
What alternatives are available? Any physical activity that you enjoy. Something that requires you to get, get out, and do something. Make the change to become physically active an easy transition.
Pick up on your previous hobbies from your younger days. Week by week add to the level of your participation. Research some things you may be interested in or talk to close friends about some of their activities.
In order to avoid having to go into the gym, make the most use of your time that may have been overlooked. When the kids are at soccer practice, instead of watching from the car, watch while walking around the field.
At work if you only have to go up a few stories, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Go out with your spouse and take up a dancing lesson- that can be beneficial both physically and for your relationship.
Ultimately, you must burn the calories. Eating properly will take care of most the issues and activity will be the crown molding. You dictate how you lose the weight; therefore, you can continue to stay in shape after you reach your goals.
