That sounded like a lucrative idea since his prices were less than 50% of the retail price.
I checked all the online resources I could and found Make Marimba. I was not sure if this was what that guy used to build his so I checked it out. Seemed harmless enough and figured it was worth the shot. I got all the supplies and followed everything step by step. It was put together and time for the test. I was worried and hoping I did not waste all this time for a marimba that does not sound right.
Sure enough it sounded perfect just like the one I tried out at the flea market. I was very content with putting together a musical masterpiece. I was curious if I would have the same luck selling it. I marked the price up slightly to compensate for the time I put into it and listed it on craigslist. After 2 short days I had a good handful of emails. It was sold the 3rd day in the morning for my full asking price!
I felt very proud that something I easily crafted was sold for profit. I continued to test this out with building my own xylophone and vibraphone and also listed them on craigslist. They were also sold in a matter of days and my profit margins were great! If you follow the Make Marimba book it you can build your own and enjoy them for yourself or profit from them.
