The iPod Touch, designed and marketed by Apple Inc., was first launched in early September 2007. This system includes all that of an iPod, plus a number of additional features and gadgets. It is sometimes known as the iPhone, without the phone. Whether watching television, movies, surfing the web or listening to music on this phenomenal 3.5-inch display screen, the iPod Touch is continuing to fly off of the shelves. Over thirty-two million iPod Touch have been sold up to the end of 2009.

Music:

The iPod Touch can hold up to 14,000 songs and a total of thirty hours of audio playback. The new Genius feature will take the songs you are currently enjoying and automatically search for songs that may sound great with them. A music mix is then made, introducing you to new songs and rhythms, parallel to that of which you currently listen to. The mixes can be shuffled at any time, as per voice command or manual touch.

The new 32GB and 64GB iPod Touch model includes Apple Earphones, a microphone and a remote control device. These items are enhancements to the two model's Voice Control feature. With this new feature, an iPod touch owner can speak into the device to play songs from a play list or artist of their choice. The Voice Control can also understand commands, such as 'pause', and 'next song'. The 'Touch' is also the very first iPod with wireless access to iTunes Store; wherein, downloading of the newest music is quick and easy. The second-generation iPod Touch even includes a built-in speaker system, so that an entire room or vehicle can benefit from your tunes.

The Model:

The iPod Touch, made of recyclable stainless steel, is a slick design, only 4.3 inches high and 2.4 inches wide. The overall weight of an iPod Touch is a little over four ounces, making it easy to carry anywhere. FingerWorks originally developed the touch screen and gesture features of the iPod Touch. The graphics system was updated on the 32GB and 64GB models.

The iPod Touch also is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged. Keeping the iPod Touch recharged is always in your favor, as it carries a: calendar, clock, calculator, contact lists, email, applications, maps, web clips and more. In June of 2009 Bluetooth capability was available for the second-generation iPod Touch. This would allow for P2P apps and A2DP apps to be enabled.

Third-party applications can be purchased through Apple's App Store. This store is directly linked to iTunes, which can also be accessed via the iPod Touch. iTunes allows for iPod owners to download music and videos for a minimal price. The songs or videos will then remain in the owner's iPod or iPod Touch to be listened to at any time.

This ever-evolving device has been a hit from its initial creation. The iPod Touch continues to be updated and adjusted to become more user-friendly with each new model. Who knows what this multi-use piece of technology will include next?
